Cover art for the Supplement about the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU for The Parliament Magazine, January 2025.
The supplement includes over 30 pages of in-depth analysis of the possible scenarios, priorities and objectives of the next semester of the Polish presidency of the European Council.
Poland’s priorities for their six-month presidency focus on the broad topic of security. Their two key security focuses are on external security in the face of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, particularly as the war is on their border, and cybersecurity and misinformation following recent election and democratic intervention by actors online.
My illustration visually ties these two main topics with the sense of anticipation regarding the challenges that the next six months will offer.
Art direction: Matthew Titley and Max Dubiel.
“As it takes the helm of the EU presidency for a second time, Poland stands as a country transformed. The country’s position is firmly established at the heart of EU affairs.
Donald Tusk’s return as Prime Minister has brought a wave of change. Following years of Euroscepticism, the country looks set to embrace a stronger EU partnership, backed by economic growth, support for Ukraine and a bold vision for Europe’s future.
With security in all its forms at the forefront of the country’s council priorities, we heard from policymakers, including Head of the Polish Permanent Representation to the EU Ambassador Agnieszka Bartol, about what to expet from the next six months.”

As always, my work starts translating the client’s brief into quick sketches, trying to find the best graphic solution.
In this case, I submitted the following drafts, three variations of the same theme:
Once the AD had identified the most convincing composition, I arrived at the final illustration by going through some colour tests.
